I. Introduction of the Contest

The “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” English Public Speaking Contest is a large-scale public welfare contest sponsored by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and jointly organized by Beijing Waiyan Online Digital Technology Limited Company and China Language Assessment. By virtue of its authority, scholarship and professionalism, the contest has been selected into the “National College Student Contest List” issued by the China Association of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education for five years since 2018, and has been included in the provincial level contest projects by many education authorities of our country. The contest has been recognized for its achievements in leading ideas, cultivating talents and promoting education.

Since its initiation in 2002, the contest has been committed to the original aspiration and constant innovation It is also dedicated to cultivating patriotic talents with international vision and professional capacity. Furthermore, the contest echoes the nation’s call to cultivate international talents who can assume the responsibility of national rejuvenation, and to build up a bigger stage for students to hear and be heard, to challenge and be challenged.

II. Qualification

The offline contest: The offline contest is open to undergraduates and postgraduates under the age of 35 with Chinese nationality.

Contestants who have won the overseas or Hong Kong, Macao exchange award in previous “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” English Public Speaking Contests or “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” English Debate Contests are excluded.

IV. Registration Method

1. Registration

①All participants must register on the official website of the contest (uchallenge.unipus.cn) and submit your speech draft before September 19th, 2022. Take your phone number as the account, and please remember your account and the password so as to download the electronic certificate of the preliminary contest. Participants must ensure that the registration information is true and accurate, otherwise the registration will be disqualified.

②Send the speech audio to liebejunjun@163.com before 10 A.M. September 19th, 2022 (Notice: The size of the audio file should not exceed 100M and the length should not exceed 5 minutes. The topic will be mentioned in the “contest procedure” below)

Note: Both the audio and speech draft should be submitted.

3. Date and Venue of the Contest

We will assess all submitted audios and select contestants for the next round of the contest. The shortlist of the contestants will be announced on the school official website after September 22nd, 2022. Please attend the offline contest according to the time mentioned below.

4. Contest Procedure/Format

Submit the speech draft and audio and send the speech audio file to the designated email address → Select contestants for the next round of the contest → Participate in the offline contest with 48h nucleic acid negative certificate September 25th, 2022(Sunday) 4 P.M. in Changping campus of CUPL (site to be affirmed) → The announcement of the list of winners

③Scoring Criteria

There are grand prize, first prize, second prize and third prize, which account for 1%, 5%, 10% and 15% of the total number of submitted speech drafts of each college, respectively. (Special note: The quota for each school to advance to the provincial finals will be determined by the organizing committee of the provincial finals. Grand prize places are not equal to places for advancing to the provincial finals.)
