The Section of Foreign Language Teaching and Research for Postgraduates is responsible for the public foreign language teaching of all postgraduates and Ph.D. candidates, covering seven languages, i.e. English, Japanese, German, Russian, French, Italian and Spanish.
Guided by the goal of building up an open, international, multidiscipline and innovative university with world-class law discipline, the Section of Foreign Language Teaching and Research for Postgraduates continuously improves its postgraduate curriculum, and pays great attention to all-round postgraduates training to equip students with application abilities of foreign languages, communication abilities using legal languages, innovation consciousness as well as international vision.
The Section of Foreign Language Teaching and Research for Postgraduates follows “content-based” principle, and offers a series of classes including legal foreign languages, listening and speaking of legal English, legal translation and writing, cross-cultural communication, American literature and business English, etc. The multi-dimensional and multi-level curriculum is based upon the advantageous discipline of law and fully satisfies the diversified needs of students.
There are seven full-time teachers in the Section of Foreign Language Teaching and Research for Postgraduates, including six associate professors. All of them have overseas experience. In addition to the teachers of the Section of Foreign Language Teaching and Research for Postgraduates, excellent teachers and foreign teachers from other teaching sections and research institutes, are also invited to engage in the postgraduate teaching of foreign languages for all the postgraduates of all majors in CUPL.
Major works of the Section of Foreign Language Teaching and Research for Postgraduates are as follows: to organize the enrollment foreign language examination of postgraduates and Ph.D. candidates every year; to organize the selection of candidates for the national-funded overseas postgraduate programs, to select outstanding young teachers to participate in the teaching competition hosted by the Beijing Association of Higher Education, and to co-organize the Legal Translation and Culture Festival of CUPL.
